Abstract

The activity of boron in liquid copper was investigated using four-phase equilibrium technique. The behavior of Cu-B alloys in this method at 1723 K was reported. The apparatus used for the measurement was briefly described and the boron concentration in copper was measured in terms of partial pressure of carbon monoxide in the gas phase. The activities of boron and copper as a function of composition was also expressed. The phase composition and the diagrams revealed the correlation of the experimental data with the theoretical values.
