title = "Measurements of the power flow between bolted honeycomb sandwich panels",
abstract = "In this study, two rectangular flat sandwich panels with honeycomb cores and carbon-fiber facesheets are bolted together in a lap joint configuration and measurements of the power flow between the panels are made. Shakers and impact hammers are used to drive each panel individually, and the mean energies in the panels are measured with accelerometers. Coupling and internal loss factors are computed using experimental SEA methods. The bolted panel configuration behaves like a single long plate at frequencies below kba∼2π, where a is the panel width. Above kba∼2π, the panel vibrations may be treated statistically. Above kba∼4π, the panel internal loss factors exceed the coupling loss factors by about an order of magnitude.",
