Abstract
Multifunctional properties of a hybrid composite comprised of aligned carbon nanotubes (CNTs) grown in situ on woven fibers and a thermoset polymer matrix are characterized. The small volume fraction of CNTs (<3%) enhance laminate performance in three areas: interlaminar strength (×1.7) and Mode I fracture toughness (x1.6), electrical conductivity (x106-10 8), and thermal properties (x1.8).
