Abstract

In Chapter 1, some of the future potential for mechatronics was hinted at in relation to areas such as manufacturing, health and transport. In this chapter, the aim is to round out the book by revisiting some of these areas in more detail and to examine other areas where mechatronics has the possibility of making a significant contribution. In doing so, the authors make no claim to having any particular or special insight, recognising that, as Yogi Bera is once reputed to have said, It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future.
