Abstract

This chapter reviews policies and regulations affecting the information, communication and entertainment industries, specifically in terms of their impact on media management. To systematize the presentation of a very broad topic, policies are differentiated along two dimensions: the location of the policy-maker (municipal, national and international) and their primary focus (content or infrastructure). Each section provides an overview of policies and a brief review of the current research literature addressing policy questions in that area. The chapter concludes with a sampling of topics for future research.
