Abstract
During May and June 1983, a comprehensive experiment was performed by to study the polarization properties of hydrometeors, hence the name MAYPOLE, for May polarization experiment. In MAYPOLE for the first time, both a linear polarized, differential-reflectivity radar and a circular-polarization radar were colocated (they were about 50 m apart) and employed in studying the same melting layers.
