Abstract

Mentoring serves as a means of interpersonal learning that supports individual creative development. Broadly, mentors provide support and developmental opportunities to their mentee that can encourage creative idea development and implementation. This chapter focuses on a developmental view of creativity by examining the relationship between mentoring and mentee creativity, what is meant by mentorship, and the roles mentors serve. The impact of mentoring actions on mentee creative learning and performance will also be discussed. Finally, there is an outline of the steps required to promote mentorship for the unique benefit of creative performance.
