Abstract

A novel method for real-time location and monitoring of damage in a structure was proposed. Strain data of structure could be acquired by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor network. The method compared the flexibility matrix derived from strain data before and after damage, and the damage location vectors (DLVs) was calculated, which could locate the damage area, and realize precise damage location and real time structural health monitoring. The experiment result shows that the method greatly improves accuracy and real-time performance of damage location.
