Abstract

We analyze the power dependent effects of phase variations in cylindrical TE011 cavities in atomic clocks. For a cavity with no holes, the dominant phase variations produce frequency shifts but have no power dependence. We calculate the power variation for cavities with holes in the endcaps and see significant power dependent frequency shifts due to the phase variations. For the simplest density variations, the power variations can be larger for two 2π, 4π, and 6π pulses, than for two half integer π pulses.
