title = "Mid-infrared laser reflectance of crop leaves subjected to water stress",
abstract = "Detection of plant water stress caused by drought is a major goal for remote sensing. Methods for detection of water stress by remote sensing based on plant physiology are desirable because such methods can be readily used on different vegetative species. Earlier investigations have indicated that the passive reflectances at near- and middle-infrared, as well as at thermal-infrared bands of individual leaves vary with leaf water potential. In addition, active reflectance measurements using X-Band microwave radar and CO2 laser systems have shown promise in differentiating between green leaves and water-stressed dry leaves. In this paper, we present the results of our experimental investigation into the relationship between mid-infrared laser reflectance and leaf water potential of various crop leaves.",
