Abstract

With the advent of radars and remote sensing systems operating at millimeter wavelengths, the scattering properties of snow surfaces are of special interest. This paper presents NRCS measurements of various snow profiles for VV, VH, HH and HV polarizations at 215 GHz. A combined backscatter model calculations based on surface and volume scattering theory, together with shadowing corrections, are seen to agree with the measured data reasonably well. -Authors
