Abstract

A formula for calculating the power requirements of an armored face conveyor is presented. Techniques to determine the conveyor speed-torque curve and to estimate the acceleration time for a loaded conveyor are given. Using this information, an algorithm to estimate the maximum length for a face conveyor is developed. An application of the algorithm to power-system analysis is included.
