Abstract

A phenomenological model of the formation of the vortical ordered state in the system of vertically vibrated rods was proposed. The density evolution was described by the modified Cahn-Hilliard equation and the tilt was described by the Ginzburg-Landau type equation. It was found that the generic vortex solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau equation for the tilt correspond to the vortical motion of the rods around the cores which are located near the centers of the islands.
