Abstract
Just-In-Time (JIT) systems impinge on all operations of a firm, including design, accounting, finance, marketing, distribution, etc. and are thus of great interest to all levels of a firm's management. Realizing the success of JIT, especially in manufacturing organizations, an attempt has been made in this paper to review the available literature on JIT manufacturing systems under a suitable classification scheme. The main objective of this review is to identify the applicability of the existing models and suggest further research in modelling and analysis of JIT systems for additional improvement of the system performance.
