Abstract

Osteonecrosis of the hip is an incapacitating condition that often affects patients in their second to fi fth decades of their lives. It is estimated that about 10,000–20,000 patients are diagnosed with this condition every year in the United States. When this condition affects multiple skeletal structures, the debilitation is even more magnifi ed.
