Multiple data analyses of dichotic listening advantages of stutterers

Dichotic listening responses of 10 stutterers and 10 nonstutterers were determined using five data analyses methods reported in the literature. Results revealed that 8 (40%) of the subjects manifested changes in ear advantages, depending on the type of analyses employed. Statistical significance was determined by the choice of data analyis and not the data for these subjects. Discussion includes cautions about group analyses and heterogeneity of stuttering subjects. The need to consider a continuum for laterality in terms of magnitude and strength is stressed.
