Abstract

1. 1. Induction of hepatic microsomal cytochrome P-450 by phenobarbital causes distinct qualitative changes in the total cytochrome P-450, including a significant increase in the type I binding per unit of cytochrome. 2. 2. In mice, two distinct populations of cytochrome P-450 can be separated, each characteristic of microsomes of different density. 3. 3. Phenobarbital induction also causes changes in the density distribution of microsomal subfractions.
