Abstract
The properties of single crystal piezoelectrics were exploited for broad bandwidth, high frequency sonar. The bar geometry was estimated to maintain the fundamental resonance frequency and electrical impedance. The models were constructed and solved using the material coefficients provided. The results of the bar tonpilz modeling showed similar behavior to the single crystal ring transducer and performance gains over the PZT-8 design. Lack of material coefficients prohibited the calculation of stress, which may be one of the biggest advantages of using this design.
