N2 - In the mid-19th century, newspapers seized upon the telegraph to publish the latest news. One hundred and fifty years later, the Internet has made many newspapers timely again. This new race for news via the Internet, however, is creating its own set of problems. Modern day journalists can learn some lessons on the use of new technology from their predecessors in the 19th century.
