Abstract
It has been suggested that a recently detected galactic center binary X-ray source represents the quiescent state of A1742-289, a transient source which appeared in 1975. We find no evidence for eclipses in the Ariel V RMC data for the transient, suggesting that the binary source is a previously undetected distinct system.
