Abstract
A procedure is presented which will allow for the determination of mine electrical power-system voltages, currents, and power flows for a variety of possible operating conditions. These include normal or abnormal balanced-loading situations, circumstances related to motor starting and conditions of line-to-line faults or three-phase faults. In developing this method, network analysis techniques based upon the bus impedance matrix are utilized to determine all systems bus voltages from which the element currents and power flows are subsequently calculated. System loading is represented by shunt elements determined from rated or subtransient operating situations. Since the bus impedance matrix is formed by algorithm, potential difficulties associated with the convergence of standard iterative load-flow techniques applied to heavily loaded radial systems are avoided.
