Abstract

The risks of not vaccinating the elderly against influenza outweigh any potential risk associated with the vaccination itself. The whole-virus preparation is the recommended vaccine for adults. Within 48 hours, an intravenous regimen of erythromycin can bring about dramatic improvement in fever and respiratory symptoms of legionnaires' disease. Three weeks of therapy is recommended to avoid relapse.
