Abstract
Nonlinear absorption processes in a nonlinear optical fiber core liquid and nematic crystal films were studied for optical limiting and anti-laser dazzling applications. The clamped levels in the transparent-cladding single fiber were higher due to spurious scattering from the single fiber's cladding into downstream detection optics. Due to high linear transmission as well as intensity dependent nonlinear absorption characteristics, L34 was found to give the best optical limiting performance.
