Abstract
Although available data suggest that ECT does not result in long-term non-mnestic cognitive disruption, qualifications about possible adverse effects are necessary due to incomplete assessment and inadequate methodological and theoretical controls of past studies. Investigations designed according to guidelines suggested above should help delineate whatever effects may be present.
