Abstract

Acoustic streaming around oscillating sharp edges has been recently utilized for achieving rapid and homogeneous mixing. Herein, we present a finite element based numerical model to characterize the effect of various parameters on the acoustically induced flow. We employ a perturbation approach to overcome the difficulties associated with large length and time scales. Our results are in good agreement with the experimental results. Our results indicate that the channel dimensions can significantly influence the flow patterns and device performance.
