Abstract
A numerical method for solving the 3D, unsteady, incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in domains with flexible immersed boundaries is developed. Geometrically complex bodies are treated as sharp interfaces using a hybrid Cartesian/immersed-boundary formulation. Results are presented for flow past a flexible fishlike body and a dorsoventrally flattened, flexible body whose shape is inspired by the morphology of ray fishes.
