title = "Numerical simulations of coupled consolidation and solute transport",
abstract = "This paper presents a numerical investigation of coupled consolidation and solute transport in compressible porous media. Numerical simulations were performed using the CST2 computational model which includes the capability for variable effective diffusion coeffi cient and nonlinear nonequilibrium sorption. Parametric studies show that variable effective diffusion coeffi cient and nonequilibrium sorption signifi cantly affect consolidation-induced solute transport. Simulations also indicate that specimen boundary drainage condition can also have important effects on consolidation-induced solute transport.",
