N2 - We numerically study the propagation of Gaussian beams under superprism refraction conditions inside two-dimensional hexagonal photonic crystals. We employ two-dimensional finite difference time domain calculations, and compare them with theoretical predictions based on plane-wave method calculations. The discrepancies are analyzed in terms of the light propagation in a dispersive negative refraction medium.
