Abstract
Advanced aircraft and spacecraft as well as autonomous manufacturing plants require high-speed and reliable communications between system components to perform a set of diverse functions which include real-time decision-making and control. To this effect the system components are connected by an asynchronous time-division multiplexed network. Integrated Communication and Control Systems (ICCS) need to be designed to compensate for time-varying and possibly stochastic delays that results from the network traffic. The paper presents the design concepts of an observer that would compensate for the network-induced delays and generate a finite-dimensional time-invariant model of the ICCS.
