Abstract

In this paper, the problem of optimal and robust controller design for finite state automata is addressed. The approach presented is based on the language measure introduced in Wang and Ray. However, it differs from previous approaches to optimal controller design by using a new definition of the performance of the supervised automaton. This new definition is, in our opinion, more appropriate in cases where the performance weights are related to the relative frequency of the events.
