Abstract

The Burggeman formula for dielectric-in-dielectric composites has been extended to include the size parameter. Comparison has been made with the similar extension of the Maxwell-Garnett formula. In both extensions, the dielectric inclusion has been represented solely by an electric dipole, but the Mossotti-Clausius polarizability has been replaced by one that takes into better account the singularity behavior of the free space dyadic Green's function.
