Abstract
The CO2 gasification behavior of Sulcis coal has been evaluated. A major conclusion of this work is that the high percentage of organic sulphur in this coal leads to small reactivity differences between raw and demineralized chars owing to the formation of catalytically inactive sulphides. Variation in heat treatment temperature between 1123 and 1423 K also has a relatively small effect on the reactivity in CO2 gasification.
