Abstract

A negative-phase-velocity condition derived by Depine and Lakhtakia (Microwave Opt Technol Lett 41 (2004) 315-317) for isotropic, homogeneous, passive, dielectric-magnetic materials is inapplicable as a negative-refraction condition for active materials.
