Abstract
Statistical averaging procedure was described for determining the refractive index of matter waves in a dilute gas. The dispersion equations showed that the index of refraction was not dependent on the direction of wavevector. It was found that Lorentz invariant ratio was invariant under transformation, and formed a natural foundation for the averaging procedure.
