Abstract
Verification of model hydrometeor fields using radar observations of reflectivity was discussed. The system utilizes a new data source of high spatial resolution, and a new method to quantitatively verify the three-dimensional hydrological structures of storms from mesoscale model forecasts. It is suggested that the biggest advantage of the system is the capability of using radar data multiple radars that cover a much larger area than single radar. The system also provide more data and higher data resolution in the overlapping areas.
