Abstract

Various enterprises are adapting and converting to Open Source Software (OSS) to archive software quality such as maintainability, portability, and testability, in their business processes. OSS in the enterprise is used from a few components to single applications and also for complete enterprise solutions. The enterprises enhance certain software attributes by OSS such as security and ease of evolution. Open source allows code branching that forms a new community around an existing application code base to take the features and functions in a different direction. The architecture of the messaging system with OSS is developed to reduce the time and cost of building the solution. When using OSS for brown-field modernization an organization must let the enterprise architecture drive strategy and apply this strategy across the entire software portfolio.
