Abstract

The wood/natural fiber-plastic composites (WPCs) have great opportunities in residential and industrial sectors. This emerging material class combines the favorable performance and cost attributes of wood with the processibility of thermoplastic polymers. WPCs are finding increasing applications ranging from decking and railing systems to exterior covering applications such as sliding and trim. The considerable R & D activities and design and engineering of new products and technologies have held great promise for expanding market applications and capital investments in WPC commercial ventures.
