Abstract
Optical switching in nonlinear chiral distributed Bragg reflectors was studied with defect layers. The similarity of plane-wave propagation in any direction in an isotropic chiral medium and plane-wave propagation along the distinguished axis of an electrically gyrotropic medium was found to be incidental. Helmholtz equations were derived from frequency-domain formalism.
