Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive approach for designing UPFC controllers (Decoupled Real & Reactive power flow controllers, dc link and ac voltage regulators & UPFC based damping controller). For designing the controllers, the detailed model of the system with UPFC has been considered. Investigations clearly show that the real and reactive power flows on the line can be effectively regulated independently using decoupled controller. Studies also reveal that a significant improvement in damping of power system oscillations can be achieved with UPFC based damping controller.
