N2 - Organic agriculture, like all human activities, is practiced in a way that is consistent with a philosophical point of view. Scientific data are used to determine if materials, including those with pesticidal properties, are consistent with a belief system that places a high value on biodiversity and the enhancement of biological cycles and soil biological activity. How me USDA National Organic Program incorporates these beliefs is discussed.
