Abstract

We have published several papers on the synthesis of high molecular weight polyphosphazenes that bear organosilicon or organosiloxane side groups. This work is an extension of poly(lithiophenoxy)phosphazene chemistry to include the coupling reaction between a pendent lithiophenoxy group on a phosphazene high polymer and chloroorganosilanes. In addition, a new type of reaction is reported in which the lithiophenoxy group induces the ring-opening of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane to produce a polyphosphazene with a pendent oligosiloxy unit.
