Abstract
A discussion, presented at the 229th ACS National Meeting (San Diego, CA 3/13-17/2005), covers trends for hydrogen energy development; methods of hydrogen production; fuel processing for hydrogen and fuel cell applications; major problems and challenges in energy utilization in the 21st century; advantages of hydrogen energy developed; principles of hydrogen production, storage, and utilization; fuel processing for applications in both high- and low-temperature fuel cells; and use of hydrocarbon fuels and alcohol fuels as fuels for reforming on-site or on-board.
