Abstract
A new catalytic system based on palladium was developed. The resultant system can successfully catalyze the homopolymerization as well as the copolymerization of norbornene, methyl acrylate, and vinylidene chloride. This system allows for the synthesis copolymers not previously available, permits novel polymer properties, allows for better control than previous radical mechanisms, and presents new insight into the polymerization of polar olefinic molecules.
