Abstract
Performance measurement is the systematic definition of performance indicators and their measurement along various dimensions of performance (e.g., output, outcome, quality, efficiency, and effectiveness), in order to create empirical evidence of how nonprofit organizations operate and achieve their operational and strategic goals. Performance management is the systematic use of performance information by managers in order to make decisions that affect the management of the organization itself and the delivery of services to customers, business, and government.
