Abstract
The phase diagram of the perovskite (1-x)BiScO 3-xPbTiO 3 (BS-PT) system was discussed. The BS-PT system exhibited a large piezoelectric coefficient and a high Curie temperature T C=450°C in the vicinity of the morphotropic phase boundary which separates the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases. The compositional dependence of the octahedral tilt-transition temperature as determined using variable-temperature transmission electron microscopy was elaborated. Analysis show that the ferroelectric-phase transition temperature at the MPB was raised due to the enhanced T c in the tetragonal-ferroelectric phase.
