Abstract

Dithienopyrrole-based polymers show strong nonlinear absorption and potential as optical limiters in the telecommunications region. A 17X suppression (figure-of-merit ∼ 35) is achieved in a waveguided device, arising from the strong and broad excited-state absorption.
