N2 - Piezoelectric energy harvesters are projected to be suitable energy sources for sensors and associated electronics used in industrial health monitoring, and aircraft structural health monitoring. This manuscript outlines the progress in developing the energy harvesting prototypes. It compares the progress made in the realization of piezoelectric microgenerators with that of electromagnetic and electrostatic generators and identifies the parameters that need to be reported in subsequent publications for rationale comparison.
