Abstract

We have designed and prototyped polarizing turning films. For highly collimated backlight, the polarizing turning film provides high T_p and low T_s at the on-axis direction, allowing additional polarization recycling. A single turning film can be designed for multiple light guide plates. For a less collimated backlight, the polarizing turning film provides high T_p and low T_s along an off-angle direction.
