Abstract

Obesity and weight gain are a significant problem in post-kidney transplant patients. A multitude of pre-transplant and post-transplant risk factors predispose to obesity after transplantation, and can adversely affect patient outcomes. Identifying these risk factors early on and adopting strategies to abrogate these risk factors can potentially prevent, and help treat post-transplant obesity. This chapter will delve into the epidemiology, and risk factors for post-transplant obesity, as well as discuss strategies for prevention and management.
