Abstract
The Christmas trees post harvest quality comparison experiments of Canaan fir and Fraser fir are analyzed. The trees under experimentation were maintained unbailed, outside for 0-4 days to simulate lot storage before their transportation to the postharvest display room. Fraser fir outperformed Canaan fir by showing excellent needle retention across all treatments with minimal needle loss through the 35 days of display. The obtained data indicated drying and hereditary characteristics to be responsible factor behind the needle loss in Canaan fir.
